Sevilla FC 2 – Sporting 1 [La Liga]

A very irregular Sevilla that continues to lack confidence in their game. Bad passes, lack of communication among the players, all in all a very suitable environment for a team like Sporting to create problems and freak out every Sevilla fan. And they did. Sevilla scored in two isolated plays. The first one was a blast for Manu Del Moral and the second was a double headed. Escude hit the crossbar but the ball went to where Caceres was placed heading it in. With a 2-0, The locals started to have more irregularities and Sporting was all over Sevilla’s half. Javi Varas, with decisive saves kept the hopes up. Sporting’s goal came after pure relaxation of Sevilla’s defense. Careful because Barcelona comes next!
Perotti got injured after 28 mins and will be out for about 4 weeks at least.

Following the game, there was quite an emphasis to get the rojiblancos penalized somehow after witnessing how their fans behaved during the game. Videos like this one will upset any Sevilla FC fan:

The Federacion de Peñas Sevillistas has issued today a memo as follows:

COMUNICADO SOBRE LOS GRITOS EN EL VICENTE CALDERÓN
“La Federación de Peñas Sevillistas San Fernando desea expresar su más absoluta repulsa por los gritos que una parte de los asistentes al encuentro Atlético de Madrid-Sevilla F.C. del pasado Domingo profirió contra la memoria del malogrado Antonio Puerta, jugador del Sevilla F.C. y símbolo de nuestra afición.
Deseamos poner de manifiesto nuestra certeza de que en ningún caso los indeseables que emitieron dichos gritos representan a una afición señorial como la del Atlético de Madrid y lamentamos que, desde un sector de los asistentes a un partido de fútbol, se intente enturbiar las buenas relaciones entre dos aficiones que, más allá de la rivalidad deportiva, demostraron un comportamiento ejemplar y de convivencia durante la jornada en que se celebró la final de Copa de 2010 en Barcelona.”

It is true that an organization like the Federacion has to try to minimize any violence but at the same time I feel that we cannot be imparcial about this. We cannot stay calm while something like this keeps repeating in every clash between these two teams. Should the Vicente Calderon be closed?, should the club be fined? what are your thoughts? I think the Federacion could try after what they have said some kind of “punishment” towards this team.

Les escribo desde la ONGD Madre Coraje por el siguiente motivo: el próximo 16 de octubre (partido del Sevilla FC contra el Real Sporting), nuestra asociación llevará a cabo una campaña solidaria de recogida de ropa en los aledaños del Estadio. Ese día recogeremos tanto ropa como zapatos en buen estado. Les pregunto si podrían dar difusión entre las distintas peñas sevillistas ya que muchas de ellas no aparecen en web y no hay forma de contactar con ellas (además de que otras tienen páginas webs erróneas).

I would dare to say that overall was a pretty balanced game. The local team had better chances but a tremendous performance yet again by Javi Varas avoided the goal for the rojiblancos. Manu Del Moral had the most obvious opportunity after a defensive error and ended up facing Courtois on a 1:1 but the goalkeeper saved the strike. Substitutions didn’t happen until past 70 mins with a few players carrying a yellow card and on the verge of getting a second one. Undiano tried towards the end of the game balance the stats but it was too little too late.
The ultras from Patetico continued to show how low some of the fans can go singing “ea ea Puerta se marea.” Wha’s the anit-violence committee doing about it? A high risk game in which not only 6 Sevilla FC fans but also 2 cops were injured before the game.

Sevilla FC 1 – Valencia CF 0 [La Liga]

A real test for Sevilla FC to be able to confirm so early in the league what it is capable of this season. Valencia, a Champions League team with an unbeaten record so far was arriving in Nervion expecting a local side ready to go all out for the three points. This was exactly what they found from the very beginning. Sevilla FC had more possesion and when Valencia pushed u left a few open areas for the Nervion team to counter attack. Several were the occasions but only one got in the net.
The referee, el engominao, sent two Sevilla FC players off and one of the visiting team leaving Sevilla to defend themselves great part of the second half with Valencia launching attacks time and time again. An improved defense kept the score in favor of the rojiblancos.

Osasuna 0 – Sevilla FC 0 [La Liga]

Embarrasing is nothing for what the Andalusian side deserves as a description of the way they played today. Osasuna came out to win the game and every Sevilla fan felt the first half was going to end with advantage for the Pamplonicas. It was a miracle that the score was remained unchanged. 15 mins had Marcelino to think about substituting players and/or change formation. Nothing. It seems like if the Sevilla’s coach spent the halftime at the bar. The second half started the same way the first 45 ended. Sevilla has probably given 2 good passes during the whole game. Manu del Moral was missing. Navarro had an awful game. I don’t think Armenteros is a first division player. Perotti, his replacement is not going thru best times either so unless Negredo supports that left side, there is really nothing happening there. Trocho has to stop kicking the ball as it comes and control it to give then a good pass.
I don’t know what do coaches see in Fazio. I am sorry but if Fazio was to reinforce the defense, how on earth can osasuna 2 shots in the area that luckily were saved by Varas. The assault during the first 20 mins by Osasuna demonstrated that the system Marcelino was using was not working.
Negredo was active but he lacked more opportunities because there was nothing generating in the midfield. In the meantime, Rakitic in the bench. The amount of balls lost in huge. Medel in the bench too. But what I don’t understand is how Marcelino removes Negredo from the game and leaves Fazio with a yellow card on! Don’t we want to score goals? Are we waiting for a corner so the tall Argentinian can score with a head up?? Corners happen when the attacking team reaches the defending team’s area and the ball goes out. Sevilla lacked ideas on generating plays.
A chance to get 3 points and remain leader, at least for tonight, faded with no possible explination with how things developed!! Marcelino, please tell me there is a rational for most of your decisions!!

Sevilla FC 1 – Real Sociedad 0 [ La Liga]

A pretty equal game in the very beginning that soon Sevilla decided to dominate. It seemed clear as time went by that the visiting team was happy with a draw. However, Sevilla was playing at home and although its chances weren’t very clear and lacked flow, they started to get better. With the entire Real Sociedad in its area oe could smell a goal just before half time. But with so many chances, one had to do it and a play started by Gary Medel that passed the ball to Negredo who saw Kanoute in great position ended in the net. Real Sociedad was then limited to play at the counter attack. Sevilla had more chances but the ball refused to get in.
Marcelino stated on press conference that the team has yet to improve a lot. Perotti holds on to the ball too long and thinks too much before he sends the cross. This was obvious yesterday and with Fernando Navarro not wanting to cross the ball either, the attacks from the left side were pretty limited especially when there were two men defending per Marcelino’s man.

This post aims to provide some support to the current situation Sevilla FC is experiencing in reference to the television contract distribution. I was speechless when I read one day the profit this generates for a team. It is then, easy to understand Real Mandril and Barcelona’s position. However, a better distribution will mean a better profit for the rest of the teams which in the long run could give them that extra cash to buy better players and have a chance, if any, to compete somewhat against the top two richer clubs in La Liga.
So, Sevilla FC’s chairman hosted a meeting with several clubes a couple of weeks back in which a common agreement seemed to have been reached to start fighting this unequal distribution. So far so good, right? Well, I was shocked when I read here that certain clubes have actually asked for forgiveness to Real Mandril and Barcelona for attending such a meeting. How ethical is this? How can you show support and then back off like a coward?
Anyway, today, Sevilla faces Real Sociedad. A tough one. A real test because Real has shown that has a good team the moment they returned from Second Division. I am sure the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and the Biris will puch the team towards the three points!

Villarreal 2 – Sevilla FC 2 [La Liga]

A very good Sevilla that took the initiative during the first half was masked by a very different team the second 45 mins. With that, Sevilla played with 11 while Villarreal saw how one of them got red carded. The Andalusian team was unable to win the game taking advantage of this. Marcelino stated that witness lack of ambition in his team. Negredo scored once again and confirmed his great moment of fitness. Rakitic returned to an official game after his injury.
